Cheap, Clean Hydrogen Fuel from Water - Just Became a Reality

- Energy Technologies CZ a.s., a small private R&D company, has found success in their revolutionary technological improvements, “a better way to generate the cheapest hydrogen fuel yet,” says Karel Pesel, spokesmen for Energy Technologies CZ a.s.

As simple and straight-forward as electrolysis of water is, this method of hydrogen production has been considered expensive, burdened by the high cost of electricity, as well as by technical issues of storage and transportation. “We have made it possible consistently to produce this cheapest hydrogen fuel ever, at less than USD 0.50 per kilogram” (the amount equivalent to the energy content of one gallon of gasoline), says Pesel.

Water happens to be one of the most abundant natural resources that this planet has to offer; over 70% of our globe is covered with it, and no drilling or discovery is necessary. Using the Energy Technologies CZ process, clean hydrogen fuel can be produced on demand without the need for storage or transportation. With small modifications to existing fuel systems, hydrogen fuel can be used anywhere fossil fuels are used, including producing our electricity and running our cars, trucks, trains, boats, and planes. The only raw materials needed to produce this fuel are water and electricity that many may already have in their homes around the world.
Along with technological improvements, the company has focused on using the energy contained in the hydrogen fuel more resourcefully. By combining a next-gen electrolyzer with Stirling engine technology to build an ImPS™ (Independent micro Power Station™), this fully automated system is small enough for home or small business use and can produce 3 kW and up to 50 kW of electricity 24/7 and will recover a heat energy to provide all the heat and hot water that most homes will be ever able to use.

Additionally, this ImPS™ system is capable of producing more electricity than most homes will need, and most homeowners will be able to sell the surplus electricity to the power grid. The system will not only help to pay for itself, but the homeowner energy use may be essentially free.

With the push for energy efficient, “green” transportation, such as plug-in electric cars, the transportation industry is particularly interested in hydrogen fuel technology. Mr. Pesel said, “These electric cars will now be able to run much cheaper by electricity produced in your home by your own power station. In cars or trucks with build-in hydrogen fuel generators, it will be even cheaper since the car alternator is producing electricity as you drive and cost of electricity is close to zero—no more trips to the gas station. One liter of water can power your car to ride some 100 miles, and coming out of the tail pipe will be steam of pure water rather than pollutants.”

Společnost Energy Technologies CZ, a.s. zjistila v průlomu výzkumu, že čisté vodíkové palivo lze vyrábět z vody o 790 % levněji, než je cena benzinu nebo nafty v USA, a o 1400 % levněji oproti ceně v České republice; u ostatních zemí se cena pohybuje v rozmezí uvedených hodnot.

Praha, 29. září 2010 – Společnost Energy Technologies CZ, a.s. dosáhla po téměř devíti letech svého privátního  výzkumu v oblasti vodíku a vodíkových paliv dlouho očekávaného úspěchu, a to v nezvyklém vylepšení staré technologie elektrolýzy vody. „Toto vylepšení nás přivedlo k daleko efektivnějšímu způsobu výroby vodíkového paliva. Takto upravená technologie nám nyní umožňuje nenáročně vyrábět to nejlevnější vodíkové palivo v historii a bez větších potíží se bude moci vyrábět kdekoli na světě,“ říká mluvčí společnosti Karel Pesel.

I přes to, že je elektrolýza vody relativně jednoduchou technologií, tato metoda výroby vodíku, a tedy i vodíkového paliva, byla dosud považována za nákladnou, - zvláště s ohledem na vysokou spotřebu elektrické energie při starém postupu, společně s dalšími technickými problémy včetně skladování a přepravy. „ Nyní jsme ovšem schopni vyrábět vodíkové palivo trvale - navíc pouze dle potřeby a jako nejlevnější palivo vůbec - za přibližně 10,- Kč nebo 0,5 USD za kilogram,“ uvádí Pesel s tím, že jde o množství srovnatelné s obsahem energie v 3,78 litru či jednom americkém galonu benzinu.

Voda je jedním z nejhojnějších přírodních zdrojů, které nám všem tato planeta nabízí – pokrývá 70 % povrchu planety a k jejímu získání pro toto nové vodíkové palivo nejsou nutné žádné nákladné průzkumy ani ropné vrty. Proto v tomto případě ani nemůže dojít k nebezpečným ropným nehodám typu BP. Při použití vylepšené technologie vyvinuté společností Energy Technologies CZ, a.s. lze v různém  provedení vyrábět vodíkové palivo podle potřeby téměř kdekoliv, včetně domácností, bez nutnosti skladování nebo jakékoliv přepravy. Při menší úpravě stávajících palivových systémů lze čisté vodíkové palivo používat všude tam, kde se dnes musí používat drahá a škodlivá fosilní paliva, včetně výroby elektřiny v tepelných elektrárnách či pohonu našich osobních automobilů, nákladních vozidel, vlaků, lodí a letadel. Jedinou surovinou, kterou k výrobě tohoto paliva potřebujeme, je voda a menší množství elektrické energie, které má k dispozici většina domácností na světě.

Kromě technologických vylepšení elektrolýzy vody se společnost také zaměřuje na lepší využití energie obsažené ve vodíkovém palivu. Vybudováním  ImPS™ ( Independent micro Power Station™ - nezávislá mikroelektrárna ) kombinací elektrolyzéru nové generace a technologie Stirlingova motoru by mohl být v brzké době k dispozici plně automatizovaný systém, který bude mít dostatečnou kapacitu využití především v domácnostech, ale i v malém podniku a bude moci nepřetržitě vyrábět dle potřeby od 3 až do 50 kW elektrické energie  24 hodin denně a zároveň získávat tolik tepelné energie pro vytápění a ohřev vody, kolik jí při běžné spotřebě většina domácností nemůže ani využít.

Jeden litr vody postačí vašemu automobilu na zhruba 160 km a z výfuku mu bude místo škodlivin vycházet pouze čistá vodní pára.“

Nová technologie výroby vodíkového paliva by měla přinést světu celou řadu ekonomických  výhod a rovněž nenahraditelné kroky vpřed v ochraně přírody. NEW CHEAP CLEAN HYDROGEN FUEL PRODUCED FROM WATER IS NOW REALITY AND MAY BE PRODUCED NUMBER OF TIMES CHEAPER THAN ANY OF THE FOSSIL FUELS WE MUST USE TODAY.


Hydrogen fuel can now be generated from water some 790% cheaper in US and over 1400% in Czech Republic for example and anything between in other countries when compared to the current cost of gasoline or  diesel that we must use today, according to the  research  done by ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES CZ a.s.

Prague Czech Republic June….., 2010 – Karel Pesel spokesmen for small R&D Company Energy Technologies CZ a.s. has announced a discovery and breakthrough  with proprietary technological improvements into old electrolysis of water  is allowing us to obtain a cheapest hydrogen fuel yet, and at end user prices cheaper than any fossil fuel currently available. The term “revolutionary” in this case may be an understatement.


Using the latest technological improvements, we are able to produce new hydrogen fuel in our next-generation electrolyzer time and again for less than USD 0.50 per one kilogram of hydrogen fuel (the amount equivalent to the energy content of one gallon of gasoline) with only a tap water and electricity that most people may already have in their homes. It seems fitting; that the ever increasing global energy thirst will be quenched by water.


When hydrogen fuel is produced from water anywhere, we have a sustainable production system and that translates to independence and self sufficiency, and will not just compete with current fossil fuels prices, but produce the new hydrogen fuel as the cheapest and cleanest non-polluting fuel available. The fuel contains no carbon and thus burns to form only pure water with no carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide emissions.

With this technology and ease of production, a entirely new energy production and delivery concept emerged, why transport and store the volatile fossil fuels, adding a large costs, when we are now able much easier and cheaper produce and deliver in properly sized unit, directly only the amount of new hydrogen fuel in gas form that is needed no matter where the location may be, or what the system is or how much fuel the system needs.


This new clean hydrogen fuel may be called a universal fuel and can be used with small modifications anywhere the fossil fuel is used and more; power our cars, trucks, trains, buses, boats and ships. With a little more effort, this new hydrogen fuel will meet the more stringent requirements associated with air transportation. Since fuel will be produced as you fly, an extra safety factor must be considered: What if the hydrogen fuel production unit malfunctions? Installation of a number of independent units will most likely solve that issue. The final outcome is cheap, a clean propulsion system, much better than carrying huge, heavy loads of highly explosive jet fuel on board.  The new hydrogen fuel is perfect solution to be used to produce electricity independently in our homes including heating our homes and our water, it may be produced and utilized directly in any large electrical power plants, electricity produced with hydrogen fuel may power our commercial buildings, light our streets, our factories and our farms.

The improved process of electrolysis reaction takes place in a new next-generation electrolyzer that is an idealto be small appliance size unit, well suited for small scale distributed hydrogen fuel production and may be easily used in any home based setting. The idea is simple, the consumer and end user of energy may now become his own producer of energy, producing cheaper, cleaner energy, independent of any large central producers, that should give us not just cheaper and cleaner energy but when introduced in large numbers around the world it may keep us protected from any future price wars over our energy needs.


Let’s put that in prospective with a small comparisons that may better demonstrate the cost and energy that is contained in the new hydrogen fuel; close to half US Dollar – 0.50 cents in retail  cost of electricity(you and me have to normally pay) will now produce one kilogram/ 2.2 lbs of new hydrogen fuel or equal to it in your own currency. Note; the price charged by power companies to their large industrial consumers is quite lower and that may be true no matter where you come from, to negotiate some lower rates for large numbers of small producers of new hydrogen fuel  would make the new hydrogen fuel even cheaper to produce. 


Frequently the energy contained in gallon of gasoline has been compared as been close to the energy contained in kilogram of hydrogen, however what needs to be point out, is that gallon of gasoline equals to 3.78 liters  and weights some 2.79 kg, and when the two fuels are compared on mass bases; kg to kg that makes the energy contained in kg of new hydrogen fuel 150 466 Btu’s, 3.65 times higher over the energy content of 41 218 Btu’s in one kg of gasoline and may also burn some 50% more efficient than gasoline, meaning you may get some 50% better distance.

 15 gal/56.7 liters gasoline tank = 41.8 kg, you would only need 11.4 kg of hydrogen fuel costing in US  $ 5.24, $ 6.23 in Czech, $ 9.22 in UK and $ 16.79 in Netherlands.


Simple non scientific gasoline and new hydrogen fuel economy and cost comparison;

15 gallon/56.7liters car tank filled with regular gasolinewill have a mass (weight) of 41.85kg/92.26 lbs and would cost $ 41.25 in US at ($2.75/gal). With 24 mpg fuel economy it would take you 360 miles. At cost of full tank $41.25 = 4125 cents/360miles =11.458 cents per mile.

Car will travel 1 mile on gasoline for 11.5 cents or would take you 8.7 miles for one US Dollar.

 Only about 15% of the energy from the fuel you put in your tank gets used to move your car down the road or run useful accessories, such as air conditioning. The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline inefficiencies and idling.

New hydrogen fuel efficiency and cost;

1kg = 150 466 Btu’s

The 1,725, 000 Btu’s of energy in 15 gallon of  gasoline divided by energy content in one kg of hydrogen fuel 150 446 Btu’s tells us, that we only need 11.466kg of hydrogen fuel to replace the gasoline energy content. 11.466kg multiplied by 0.457 USD cost per kg=5.24 USD for hydrogen fuel vs. 41.25 USD for regular gasoline.  The hydrogen fuel also burns more efficiently and if assuming 50 % better efficiency than burning gasoline, in other words it would take you 540 miles instead of 360 miles. 5.24 USD = 524 cents/540miles = 0.0097 = less than 1 cents/mile.

Car will travel 1mile with 1 cent worth of new hydrogen fuel or would take you 100 miles for one Dollar.


The comparison’s are for illustration only, and it would apply only to situation if electric car is used and is charged up in your own home by ImPS™ (Independent micro Power Station). On long distance trips, where car is equipped with its own hydrogen fuel production unit, it will be much cheaper since you don’t pay for the electricity to produce your hydrogen fuel, you need to carry sufficient amount of water, and the hydrogen fuel is produced as you drive using electricity that is produced by your alternator in you car.  The cost of electricity needed to produce the hydrogen fuel once you are driving is close to zero, except perhaps some small initial batteries charge up cost.


However what is just as important, you will burn completely clean fuel that emits only water, and in any long distance trips producing your own hydrogen fuel by your car or any commercial trucks fleets hauling cargo makes even more economic and environmental sense. When you burn one gallon of gasoline you are also burning some2.42 kg/5.33lbs carbon,one kilogram of carbon, whether contained in petrol, diesel, kerosene, or any other hydrocarbon fuel in a vehicle, leads to approximately 3.63 kg of CO2 emissions.[8] Due to the carbon content of gasoline, its combustion emits 2.32 kg/L (19.4 lb/US gal); since diesel fuel is more energy dense per unit volume, diesel emits 2.66 kg/L (22.2 lb/US gal).[8]

This figure is only the CO2 emissions of the final fuel product and does not include additional CO2 emissions created during the drilling, pumping, transportation and refining steps required to produce the fuel.


That would make your 15 gallons of gasoline in 360 miles trip produce 131.99 kg/290.99 lbs of CO2 emissions.

If you use 41.85 kilograms of new hydrogen fuel, the same weight of gasoline you put in your 15 gallon tank, it would cost

$19.88 and no emissions, if charged at your home but it would take you some 4,185 miles 11.625 times the distance of 360 miles when gasoline is used.

A new angle to the “Global Hydrogen Economy.”

Water is one of most abundant resources in the world, no drilling or exploration in necessary. And (contrary to popular belief) splitting of water by electrolysis into hydrogen and oxygen and now using a improved technology, it is also the simplest and most straightforward electrochemical process to obtain hydrogen as a primary product used for our new fuel.

 This new hydrogen fuel cost reduction in producing and its use should bring enormous global economic and environmental benefits. The concept of independence and energy self-reliance by countries that don’t have crude oil reserves and millions of small home energy producers may have far reaching impact on everything we do. Answer; There are number of reasons, the security of the technology, personal security, and security of people involved with the technology

3) Question; With such a big discovery, why?

Answer; Number 1) He personally feels that there will be many unhappy people, even countries around the world mainly the current producers and suppliers of fossil fuels, with huge investments and stakes in their commodities and huge industries build round it that in some cases may represents majority of their incomes, understandably they are hoping to sell to us their products for long time to come, and as their product become scares we would have no option but to pay even more for it than ever before.  When new technology arrives and is able in time replace substantially the demand for their product with something cheaper and totally clean that will threatens the demand for their product they are not going to be happy about that, one would only hope that they would recognize the enormous opportunities, and be among the first one’s to contacting us and start adopting the new technology since they are uniquely qualified in many aspects of energy production and delivery. 2) He also feels that he doesn’t deserve the attention, as the real credit should be directed to pioneers’ such as Prof. M. Kanarev and others whose scientific work was used extensively and was a basis in the innovators research that led to his improvements. 3) And on top of all that he does not care for the publicity as he in his own opinion feels that he didn’t really discovered anything and therefore doesn’t deserve it.

4) Question; How than should we know that the discovery or the innovation, as he calls it even works?

Answer; Innovator confirmed his innovation in numerous tests in lab setting, with many not very classy models, with led him to invest in production of a working prototype model that could actually be shown and tested by others and be used as a base model in mass manufacturing, and was competed back in mid May 2010, at later date the prototype will be tested in some accredited testing facility for its performance with the results publicly announced,  the results will be able to confirm without question the abilities of the technology to produce the cheapest and cleanest hydrogen fuel yet.

5) Question;  Is it than  a real discovery or is it just technical innovation, can you explain that?

Answer; The inventor/innovator feels that would depend on strict definition and interpretation what the precise meaning of discovery is, for example Finding out or ascertaining something previously unknown or unrecognized” the only part that may be perhaps called discovery in his opinion is how to make the hydrogen cheaper, is that all is needed to be called discovery? The reality of high cost of hydrogen production until now didn’t make good economic sense, mainly to high cost of storage and delivery, which automatically brings along many technical difficulties and adding some 60 to 90% to the cost of production of hydrogen. You may not produce fossil fuels in your home;  they must be transported and stored adding large cost to already expensive fuels. The hydrogen fuel is very different in this regard, and if we accept the notion that storage and delivery of hydrogen fuel is not necessary, that will solve large part of the problem of possible wide use of hydrogen fuel. The technology is now available to produce hydrogen fuel cheaper and easier in any amount  and only when is needed, and may be produced and used  directly at your home using only small amount of electricity and tap water that most people may have already in their homes. The innovator therefore feels that calling it discovery should be only be used only in very loose sense. Is it a discovery? Or is it simply technological improvement in how and where we produce and use new hydrogen fuel. You decide.

6) Question; Can you elaborate on that statement?

Answer; Yes let me try, what the inventor is saying that he didn’t discovered the process of electrolysis of water that is a old technology and used every day around the world. What he is saying is that he made some improvements’ to already existing and well know technology, yes the hydrogen fuel  may now be produced much cheaper, but true benefit and savings may only be realized  if the hydrogen fuel is produced and used in place of use. Manymay call the final outcome of the complete process a new discovery, the innovator like’s to refer to it as simple innovation with full and proper use of technology.

7) Question; Can you tell us how did he than made the improvements in technology?

Answer; Through hundreds of experiments tests and measurements he faced some unexplained discrepancies between some published data he studied and his own experimental results, the real consumption of electricity in electrolysis of water is a small example among many others, only when trying to resolve the discrepancies the answers become obvious, and it only worked when the changes and improvements that he made where  applied correctly,  than the experimental results where supported completely. 

8) Question; Can you tell as at least something about the inventor?

Answer; We are able to provide some limited information, but not the identity.

9) Question; Where he lives? How old is he?  Is he formally educated scientist?

Answer; Where he lives is confidential, he is in his late fifties, and his is not formally educated scientist and he is not holding any degree, however he call him  self educated science and hydrogen buff, by the fact that he spent over nine years  experimenting and studying every scientific aspect related to hydrogen and its properties  and reviewing any official published study related to electrolysis of water and/or hydrogen  and any other documents  that he was able get his hands on and that could even remotely be useful in his research.

10) Question; The press release said that the discovery was made in small private lab in the Czech Republic, where exactly?

Answer; That again is confidential information to protect the technology and protect the identity of people involved.

11) Question; Who is than the owner the Energy Technologies CZ a.s. that made the announcement?

Answer; The inventor/innovator

12)Question; Why is than Energy Technologies CZ a.s. incorporated by Strojexport a.s. and what is the relation of Strojexport a.s. with the Energy Technologies CZ a.s. company, since Strojexport a.s. is listed as the only shareholder in incorporation documents?

Answer; Strojexport a.s. is a designated agent along with the names of the people listed in the press release for the innovator and general manager for certain contemplated future activities for Energy Technologies CZ a.s.

13) Question; What are the activities and what is the purpose of theEnergy Technologies CZ a.s.

Answer;  Some of the future activities for Energy Technologies CZ a.s. is the commercialization and utilization of the new technology and the new hydrogen fuel in practical products for global wide use,  including additional  research of the hydrogen fuel and its many potential uses.

14) Question; What are the products?

Answer; There are multiple of products contemplated ( different sizes with different production capacities) of new next-generation electrolyzers for example, that would produce the new hydrogen fuel and other related products, a small Independent micro Power Station is other example, that may be designed  into many different sizes, that will consists of two units, first unit is based on the next generation electrolyzer of water technology that will produce a hydrogen fuel,  combined with a second unit  based on Stirling engine technology that will use the hydrogen fuel to produce electricity, heat and hot water  called a Independent micro Power Station.

15) Question; How many people are working there?

Answer; There are no actual employees working at the company at this time.

16) Question; How come?

Answer; The major part of the research was completed some two years ago, and Energy Technologies CZ a.s. company was created just after with a expectations of commercializing the technology.

17) Question;  Are there any activities?

Answer; There are some,  mainly preparations  activity, conducted by Strojexport as it relate to the future plans for Energy Technology CZ a.s. to allow it to build  a  manufacturing and assembly facility in Czech Republic, including site locations, and host of related functions’ including any government interest and contribution or their help and involvement

 18) Question; What kind of manufacturing and assembly facility we talking about?

Answer;  A working model of manufacturing and assembly facilities to produce products related to the technology as mentioned before.

19) Question; What is working model means?

Answer; Working model manufacturing and assembly facilities  is  one unique manufacturing and assembly plant producing only product related to the technology, and model means that the same set up of production and the process may be copied and reproduced and used anywhere in the world to make more of the same product.

20) Question; Where is the manufacturing and assembly plant to be located?

Answer; We are exploring a number of potential sites for example Tuchlovice is one of them,  no final site was selected however.

21) Question; How big is the manufacturing and assembly plan to be?

Answer; That is under consideration and will depend on many factors. Initially we where considering 250 000  units per year facilitates,  but we may consider facilities of up to 1 million units per year facility providing some important criteria could be met, such as sufficient labor force in close vicinity of factory, proper infrastructure, government support and other considerations.

22) Question; How many people would work in those facilities?

Answer; That would depend on the size of the facility - in 250 000 units per year it may be  2000 people  plus and in 1 million units per year factory it may be as many as 5000 or more.

23) Question; When you will be able to start to build the factory?

Answer; That is good question, and again it will be dependent on many conditions, the most important for us is the ability to rise the money necessary to build the project.

24) Question; How you are going to raise the money?

Answer; We are exploring number of options for some time, ventures with some large financially strong partners is one possibility, or IPO in United States and possibly in other countries.

25) Question; Could some of the money be raised also in Czech Republic?

Answer; That may also be possibility that the Strojexport a.s. will explore, however no work has been done in that regard, initially we are concentrating our efforts and the work in  regard to IPO  in United States. 

26) Question; How much money needs to be raised?

Answer; We are looking to raise about 2 billion dollars, that would allow us to build manufacturing and assembly facility for 1 million units per year production.

27) Question; Will you sell shares in the company?

Answer; Yes that is the general idea; the technology is more than likely one of the most important energy related improvements in recent history that may have the ability to drive a change that will have impact in time on total global energy picture, including how is energy produced and how it is used, and we feel that any person who cares to help to drive the process forward and would like to be a shareholder in the commercialization of the technology should have the ability to do so, we plan to  sell shares initially in new company that for now is contemplated to be incorporated in United States and possibly  in EU, and in time perhaps in other parts of the world as well.
